More About Me

My name is Eve Cook, and I am a fourth year student at the University of Florida. I am majoring in Microbiology and Cell Science within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In addition, I am pursuing minors in Spanish and Pathogenesis. I have aspirations to become a doctor and I am on the pre-medical pathway. I have been a part of the Gumz Renal Circadian Physiology Lab for over a year assisting in genotyping, and I look forward to developing my research project with Principal Investigator Dr. Michelle Gumz, and the University Scholars Program.

Outside of research, I am the Service Director for University of Florida's Undergraduate American Medical Women's Association. I volunteer at HCA North Florida, Field and Fork Pantry, and the Vertebrate Paleontology Department of the Florida Museum. In my free time I enjoy playing the piano, going outside, painting/drawing, and watching sports.

Research Interests

My primary research interest includes the circadian clock function in the kidney and how rhythmically expressed genes impact renal health and physiology. Furthermore, other research interests include immunology, cardiovascular physiology, and more.
